I will always find it amazing and humbling that I can thrive in a career that brings me a deep sense of satisfaction, and excitement. There has been plenty of hard work, and development, but as in other fields–luck, and timing were a strangely powerful driver.
As someone who enjoys traveling, an aspect I gravitate to most is wandering, and coming across various delights–notable architecture, alleys, plazas, dining, and design-oriented retail. There’s meticulous planning, and foresight involved, but enough to allow for curiosity and surprise. I find my process in motion graphics to be similar. Starting from scratch, I gather information, research, explore ideas, and brainstorm technical concepts. Like turning corners in a new city, I build on top of one idea, and then on top of another idea, all of it culminating in a final, polished piece. I find that to be absolutely electrifying. The animations I produce are not just finished products, but reflections of my commitment to excellence. I take pride in finessing each detail until it shines.
I’m incredibly excited to continue on in the area of motion graphics. It’s only getting bigger and more widely utilized. Before, it seemed it was just for TV, film, and corporate. Now, you see it practically everywhere–Social media, video games, websites and apps, environmental and immersive installations, and VR/AR. All of these mediums demand not only varying styles, but new tools that are developing at an incredibly fast pace. This is why I find it important to keep my finger on the pulse on both aesthetic, and technological fronts, to ensure my work stays on the innovative and relevant edge.
